Geographic Introdution
Posillipo is a place of idleness and relaxation since ancient times. At first the Greeks and later the Roman aristocratic classes chose Posillipo as a resting place away from the busy Roman political and military life. In fact, Posillipo comes from the Greek Pausilypon, which literally means "respite from danger" or "that makes pain stop". also from here you can admire the panoramic view of the entire city of Naples, the Vesuvius, the Sorrento Coast and the Island of Capri. Posillipo is also famous for its splendid villas overlooking the sea, below we list a few:
Riviera di Chiaia takes its name from platja, meaning "beach" in Catalan, and dates back to the Aragonese domination. On this stretch of Naples it is possible to appreciate the noble palaces and the municipal park of Naples.
Castel dell'Ovo is a true symbol of the city, almost in all postcards, this castle is built on islet called Megaride, above all, this is the first Neapolitan settlement, before Neapolis. The fortress is the head of various myths, legends and historical anecdotes including the "legend of Virgil", the myth of "Partenope" and the exile place of the last Roman emperor, Romolo Augustolo.
